SACAA/ASL: Accountable Manager (ASLC)

Sibusiso Mokwena is the CEO and Co-Founder of Aerial Inspection Solutions (AIS), where he holds the position of Accountable Manager under the Air Service Licensing Council — carrying formal regulatory accountability for the safe and reliable delivery of all AIS air services.

With a strong background in practical engineering, project execution, strategic planning and business leadership, Sibusiso brings deep operational expertise to the company. Through his association with Sibtech Engineering, he ensures that AIS solutions are field-ready, commercially viable, and precisely aligned with real-world industrial requirements.

Sibusiso has prior working experience with Inspection and Certification Bodies, providing him with a strong appreciation of international inspection and certification standards and technical assurance frameworks. This background directly supports AIS’s strategic positioning as a partner of choice for certification and inspection bodies.

He is currently completing an MBA, using AIS as a live case study — grounding the company’s commercial and strategic development in rigorous academic and business methodology.

SACAA/ASL: Air Service Safety Officer (ASLC)

Johann de Beer is the COO and Co-Founder of Aerial Inspection Solutions (AIS), where he serves as Air Service Safety Officer under the Air Service Licensing Council. He leads operations, quality management systems and technical strategy, with a particular focus on integrating RPAS and advanced inspection technologies into structured industrial inspection environments.

A qualified Mechanical Fitter with more than 30 years of experience in quality assurance and asset integrity, Johann brings extensive practical experience across the technical, inspection, quality and regulatory dimensions of industrial asset management. His career includes involvement in major South African industrial projects including Medupi, Kusile, PBMR, SAPREF, Project Turbo and Octene 3, together with international assignments in Europe, India, China, Vietnam and Madagascar.

Johann has more than 20 years of experience within Approved Inspection Authorities and an extensive portfolio of professional credentials covering quality management systems, inspection, welding, pressure equipment, conformity assessment and asset integrity. He is also a SACAA-licensed Remote Pilot.

Within AIS, Johann leads the development of structured remote inspection capability, including the integration of drone technology, inspection processes, digital data acquisition and the AIS Flight Operations mobile platform — a proprietary five-app suite developed for drone-based industrial inspection.

In August 2026, Johann successfully completed three Flyability training programmes: Elios 3 Introductory Training, Elios 3 AIIM Training and UT Advanced Training. These programmes strengthen AIS’s capability to apply the Elios 3 platform and associated inspection technologies to industrial, remote and difficult-to-access inspection environments.

Johann also founded Elior Konsultante (Pty) Ltd, providing specialist consulting services in quality management systems, inspection, conformity assessment and technical requirements.

Schalk de Beer brings a mechanical engineering (N4) background and practical visual inspection expertise to the AIS field team. He combines technical knowledge with precise drone operations to deliver accurate, high-quality visual data for reliable assessment and reporting.

Schalk specialises in aerial and ground-based visual data capture for industrial sites, structures, and mining operations across southern Africa. His attention to detail ensures the quality and accuracy of AIS inspection deliverables.

In the field, he handles drone operations, visual data acquisition, and reporting,  providing critical imagery and inspection records for client reports and project documentation. His engineering background enables effective work in demanding industrial environments.
